Abstract
The phytoncide distribution showed a big difference from zones in the natural recreational forest of Seogwipo located in the mid-mountain of Halla. Hinoki Cypress zone had annual average 983 pptv of phytoncide which was three times those of three deciduous tree zones, from 304 to 324 pptv. In particular, the summer season showed the highest value of 1,441 pptv in the Hinoki Cypress zone, followed by fall (1,073 pptv) > spring (897 pptv) > winter (520 pptv). For diurnal changes, the daytime of 12~14 o'clock and morning time of 6 o'clock showed the highest concentration distribution. In the 11 components of phytoncide analysed, the three of sabinene, d-limonene and a-pinene were occupied in 25%, 20% and 15% in the Hinoki Cypress zone, but the deciduous tree zone were occupied in 27%, 6%, 10%, respectively, which means that phytoncide diffuse from the highest Hinoki Cypress zone to the deciduous zone.
